Natural disasters like earthquakes, cyclones, tsunamis, floods, landslides cause catastrophic damage to the life and property of the people, creating havoc on the community.
Disaster relief (or emergency management) refers to the process of responding to a catastrophic situation, in a timely manner to support the situational needs. The relief fund plays a crucial role in providing timely help to the affected people. It supports in dealing with avoiding risks and helping to rebuild society.
Sumadhura Foundation regularly contributes to the State and National relief fund, to help support humanitarian aid to persons and communities affected. This will help contribute to the socio-economic development, or the welfare of the underprivileged sections of the society such as scheduled castes, the scheduled tribes, other backward classes, minorities and women, who are often the most affected.
Sumadhura Foundation has consistently supported by contributing to the CM relief funds, during the natural disaster events, be it the floods of 2018 in Karnataka & Kerala or the current Covid-19 pandemic.
During the current Covid-19 crisis, Sumadhura Foundation supported all the migrant workers across all its project sites, by helping them with supply of essential items.
During the lockdown period, we helped distribute food and other essentials to the needy families living close to the Government school, Chikkenekkundi.
Heavy rains had caused severe flooding and landslides in certain districts of Karnataka in August 2018. During this period, Sumadhura Foundation realised the need to help the state and contributed generously to the CM disaster relief fund.
